Q: How much will it cost for you to write my story?
A: Pricing starts as low as $99 for a 30 minute phone interview and 300 word story focused on retelling one special event or moment of your life, designed as a shareable PDF with a photo you supply. More extensive recollections, in-person interviews and longer stories or manuscripts require more of an investment. Let’s talk.
Depending on scope, a deposit of 50% may be required before work begins.
Q: How will you help me tell my story? How does it work?
A: I am a professional journalist with more than 25 years of experience. I’m able to ask the questions that draw out the details and write them well, creating a meaningful reflection for you and a way to preserve your legacy.
Q: I’m a regular person. What do I have to share about my life?
A: Everyone has a story, and your story matters. One of my first editors told me everyone should have their name in the paper at some point in their lives – for something good. That lesson has stayed with me, along with the C.S. Lewis quote, ”We meet no ordinary people in our lives.” Your stories are important to the people in your life.
Q: What if I share something that I decide I don’t want in my story?
A: You are in control and will have the chance to review the content before your story is finalized. Not all stories are happy ones. Whatever stories you choose to tell, they are yours, and approached with good intent. (I won’t help you write an angry rant, but you can be honest about your experiences.)
Q: How long does the process take?
A: Shorter stories will be provided within two weeks following the interview. Timelines for larger projects will be provided as part of our agreement.
